Vieste and Gallipoli the most-clicked by Italians by Flavia Pankiewicz
P
uglia is the superstar of the Web, with Gargano and Salento fighting it out at the top. Vieste and Gallipoli have come out as Puglia’s most-clicked destinations by Italians and among the top ten in the national ranking.
The news, communicated at the beginning of summer, has an authoritative matrix: the Trivago search engine, specialized in the comparison of hotel prices and services, and the well-known Tripadvisor, the most important web portal to publish reviews of restaurants, hotels and tourist attractions. So Puglia is confirmed among the Italians’ favorite tourist destinations again this year, and is also chosen by a high percentage of foreign tourists.
We have an extraordinary heritage of history and art and a legendary reputation for food and wine, but it is the landscapes of Puglia, the many-faceted coastline, and the sea itself which make their mark on the heart and on the imagination. And it is to the coasts of Puglia that Bridge dedicates, in this special edition, a magnificent feature by Studio Fotografico Fotogramma that ranges from the Ionian to the Adriatic, capturing landscapes and details of rare beauty.
Even though there are countless less famous localities, some of which are almost completely unknown, it comes as no surprise that the fascinating Vieste, heart of the amazing Gargano coastline, and sunny Gallipoli, from whose old town center you can enjoy one of the most beautiful sunsets in Italy, and whose beaches have few rivals, have been the most favored. Besieged by young people, who choose it for its lively night life, Gallipoli is also the queen for its happy hours, parties on the beaches and in the discos, that in July and August make it less appealing to those who wish to enjoy a peaceful or, at least, not such a noisy holiday.
One solution could be that coming from the other side of the Atlantic, from the New York that continues to surprise us with its new inventions and new tendencies. They danced this year in the Lincoln Center, with its plaza transformed into an immense open-air disco, ‘till deep into the night, while the residents of the surrounding buildings slept soundly. It’s called a “Silent Club” and it’s led by a “Silent DJ”. Everyone dances to the same fantastic, loud music: wearing headphones.
