Makes about 10 pasticciotti:


- 250 g of all-purpose flour
- 125 g of butter or shortening
- 125 g of sugar
- 2 egg yolks
- 1 teaspoon of baking powder
- a pinch of salt

For the

- 1/2 liter of milk
- 125 g of sugar
- 4 egg yolks
- 50 g of all-purpose flour
- 1/2 stick of vanilla bean or a pinch of lemon zest

      Like all diets designed for a correct nutritional program, you must not eliminate anything; just know how to eat everything in the correct proportion and with the right frequency. After all... how can you say no to something as scrumptious as a Lecce pasticciotto? A good, sweet thing, simple, and very very nutritious. It is a perfect choice to eat every once in a while, with once in awhile underlined, preferably for breakfast, hopefully warm and right out of the oven, served together with a good cappuccino.

     Pasticciotti, which are now famous even outside the borders of their Salento home, are still made according to old, traditional family recipes, with simple and genuine ingredients such as eggs and fresh milk, that ensure their characteristic features.

    In regard to its nutritional properties, you certainly cannot say that a pasticciotto a day will make you lose weight, or that it will induce anti-oxidants to help slow down the signs of aging skin, but this yummy treat has one quality that many other foods deemed more complete from a nutritional point of view do not have: eating one makes you happy! And there is nothing better than starting the day in a good mood. And why not, for those who do not have weight problems and can afford the calories. They are also a great way to end a lovely dinner, as dessert, and a good method to forget your tiredness from a long day of work or study. The day after, though, you had better calibrate your diet with attention to your food choices.
